1. Определите, в какой степени сравнения стоит прилагательные:
coolest, bluest, thicker, freer, worst, truer, better, smallest, greatest, slower
Переведите на русский язык и определите их исходную форму.
2. Переведите устно предложения и назовите положительную степень выделенных прилагательных и наречий:
Her eyes are darker than Helen’s. In summer my room is cooler than the other rooms. In winter it is the best and warmest room m the house. I like it best. The new bridge is longer and more solid than the old bridge. This dress is even worse than your black dress; it is older, too. Your hands are less hard than mine; they are whiter, too, because I work more. Give me some more water! We have less time than we want. The weather is colder in autumn than spring though it is warmer than in winter.
3. Вставьте вместо точек some или any и переведите предложения:
Do you know … of these girls? There are … foreign visitors m the park…. of my friends live in this house. We haven’t… time. Do you like … of these animals? Yes, I like … of them. I do not like … of them. Give me … water. We do not see … bat here. What fruit do you want ~to buy’ – … fruit that is good for small children.
4. Переведите предложения:
He says nothing. He does not say anything. No man can do this. Nobody can do not know anybody in this city. I know nobody in this city. He sees nothing on the hill. He does not see anything on the hill.
5. Перепишите предложения, поставив вместо русских слов английские:
Man has two (глаза) and two (уши). I (чувствовать) warm. The bird flies (вниз). Let’s (поймать) this bird. I (начинать) to study. Bats (едят) insects. (Некоторые) bats (пьют кровь). 6. Перепишите предложения, поставив данные в скобках слова в указанную степень сравнения. Переведите предложения устно:
This book is (long ср. cт.) and (good ср. cт.) than the other book. It is (good прев, cт.) of all these books. But I want something (easy cp. cт.). Give me (easy прев, cт.) book m the library. He is my (good прев, cт.) friend. I have even (little cp. cт.) time than our works. I study (much cp. cт.). He is (good прев, cт.) worker at our works. This river is (narrow cp. cт.) than The Thames.
7. Перепишите слвосочетания, заменив русские слова английскими. Причастия I образуются от известных вам глаголов:
А (спящий) child. А (работающая) woman. The man (смотрящий) at me. Workers (начинающие) their work. The boy (ловящий) birds. The animal (пьющее) water. The (растущий) child. The (открывающиеся) gate. (Проходящие) ships, The bridge (соединяющий) the two sides of the river.
8. Переведите два предложения:
I feel nothing. I do not feel anything.
Объясните, почему в первом предложении глагол стоит в утвердительной форме, а во втором – в отрицательной.
9. Перепишите предложения, заменив выделенные слова притяжательными местоимениями второй формы. Переведите устно:
Are your children older than my children? Are his eyes darker than your eyes? I begin my work at nine; when do they begin their work? Their house is better than our house. I like our room better than her room.
10. Переведите на английский язык:
Он работает лучше, чем вы. Эта комната темнее нашей. Его ноги длинее, чем ваши. Он больше занят, чем она. Она ест больше фруктов, чем Мэри. Дети спят дольше, чем мы. У нее зубы белее, чем у меня.
11. Ответьте рисменно по-английски на следующие вопросы; формулировки берите из текста Bats:
