You are going to give a talk about technology in volunteering. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences).
Remember to say:
• why people volunteer
• what types of volunteer work are popular
• how volunteering benefits both the volunteer and the community
• your attitude towards volunteering
You have to talk continuously.
People volunteer for various reasons, but primarily to make a positive impact on their community and the world at large. Volunteering allows individuals to contribute to causes they care about, whether it’s helping the less fortunate, protecting the environment, or supporting local organizations. It’s also a way for people to gain new experiences, develop skills, and meet like-minded individuals who share their values.
There are many popular types of volunteer work. Environmental volunteering, such as participating in beach clean-ups or tree planting, is increasingly common among young people. Helping at local food banks or homeless shelters is another widespread form of volunteering. Many people also volunteer at animal shelters or wildlife rehabilitation centers. In the education sector, tutoring underprivileged children or teaching English to immigrants are popular volunteer activities.
Volunteering benefits both the volunteer and the community in numerous ways. For volunteers, it provides a sense of purpose and fulfillment, boosts self-esteem, and can even improve mental health. It’s also an excellent way to gain work experience and develop new skills, which can be valuable for future career prospects. For the community, volunteering provides essential services that might otherwise be unavailable or underfunded. It strengthens community bonds, promotes social responsibility, and can inspire others to get involved.
Personally, I have a very positive attitude towards volunteering. I believe it’s an important way to give back to the community and make a tangible difference in people’s lives. I’ve participated in a few volunteer activities, including a local river clean-up and tutoring younger students at my school. These experiences have been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to meet new people, learn about important issues, and feel like I’m contributing to something larger than myself. While balancing volunteering with school and other commitments can be challenging, I think it’s worth the effort. I plan to continue volunteering throughout my life and would encourage others to do the same.
