You are going to give a talk about friendship. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences).
Remember to say:
• why friendship is important
• what qualities a good friend should have
• how friendships change as people grow older
• your personal experience with friendship
You have to talk continuously.
Friendship is incredibly important in our lives, especially during our teenage years. It provides emotional support, companionship, and a sense of belonging. Friends help us navigate the challenges of growing up, offering advice and understanding when we need it most. They also contribute to our personal growth by exposing us to different perspectives and experiences.
A good friend should possess several key qualities. Trustworthiness is paramount – you need to know that your friend will keep your secrets and have your back. Empathy is also crucial, as a good friend should be able to understand and share your feelings. Other important qualities include loyalty, honesty, and a good sense of humor. A true friend should also be supportive of your goals and dreams, encouraging you to be your best self.
As we grow older, friendships often change. The dynamics shift as we develop different interests, pursue careers, and sometimes move to new locations. While some childhood friendships may fade, others grow stronger and more meaningful. Adult friendships often require more effort to maintain due to busy schedules and increased responsibilities. However, these mature friendships can be incredibly rewarding, built on shared experiences and mutual understanding.
In my personal experience, friendship has been a vital part of my life. I’ve been fortunate to have a close group of friends since middle school. We’ve supported each other through academic stress, family issues, and personal challenges. As we’re now preparing for college, I can see how our friendships are evolving. While I’m a bit anxious about potential changes, I’m also excited about the new friendships I’ll form in the future. My experiences have taught me the value of nurturing good friendships and being a good friend in return.
