That’s why when holidays come, I try to catch up on this hobby of mine. I don’t mind spending all this free time at home, as long as I’m doing something I really like and don’t have time for when I work: videogames, cooking and watching Netflix!

Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve enjoyed reading about far-off places, and then visiting them. This has become a sort of a hobby of mine. I choose a placc – a country, a city or a little town I’ve never been to before, and read as much about it as humanly possible in the course of a year. Then, on my holiday, I visit the place and see for myself all that I know so much about – and this becomes the climax of my whole year of research!

Whatever can be better than hiking! For one, it doesn’t require any kind of fancy equipment except for a good pair of boots. For another thing, it’s completely free. There’s nothing better than leaving behind your worries, the big city, and social media and becoming one with nature. At times it can be challenging, but it is not without its rewards. When you’ve been climbing hills and jumping over stones in the river and you finally gaze upon an unexplored waterfall in a hidden valley, you have a real feeling of accomplishment.

I say, if you want to travel, go someplace unusual or even dangerous! That’s what I enjoy doing. Rain forests of Amazonia, African deserts, wild islands of the Indian Ocean – you name it! I love trying foods most people would find terrible – insects or other creepy-crawlies. I get thrilled meeting local people – even if they are not so happy to see me; and watching wild animals, even if they happen to be man-eating. Get some adrenaline – that’s my goal!

I have so many relatives scattered around the world! A cousin in New Zealand, an uncle in Mexico, some in-laws in Europe and even an aunt in Kenia! I find it very convenient. I really enjoy travelling; and staying with my relatives rather than renting an apartment or a hotel room saves me a lot of money. I can’t say that I’m always certain that I’m as welcome as I’d like to be, but isn’t it what relatives are for? Making each other’s lives easier? And anyway, my home is always open to my relatives!
