1) Millions of dollars are spent looking for extraterrestrial life. However, it is uncertain that other intelligent life forms exist in the universe. – Миллионы долларов расходуются на поиск внеземной жизни. Однако, неизвестно, существуют ли в космосе другие разумные формы жизни.

2) What is more, children who spend too much time playing computer games have poor social skills. – Более того, дети, которые проводят слишком много времени за игрой в компьютерные игры, имеют слабые социальные навыки.

3) To start with, sport is good for people’s health and helps them keep in shape. – Для начала стоит сказать, что спорт полезен для здоровья людей и помогает им поддерживать форму.

To conclude, I believe that the world’s rainforests must be given international protection. As, in the words of an Indian prophesy, “only after the last tree has been cut down… the last river has been poisoned … the last fish caught, only then will you find that money cannot be eaten.”

Did you know that the world’s population is expected to reach some 9 billion by the year 2050? Many people believe that the food we grow can feed an extra 3 million mouths. However, others argue that current evidence suggests otherwise.

To sum up, we all know how difficult it can be for students to adjust to a new environment when they decide to study abroad. Despite this, I believe that studying abroad expands our world view and appreciation of other cultures.

В заключение хочу сказать, что считаю, что тропическим лесам надо дать международную защиту. По словам индийского пророчества, “только после того, как последнее дерево будет срублено… последняя река будет отравлена… последняя рыба выловлена, тогда только вы узнаете, что деньгами нельзя питаться”.

Вы знали, что население земли к 2050-му году достигнет порядка 9 миллиардов человек? Многие люди верят, что еда, которую мы выращиваем, может накормить дополнительные 3 миллиона ртов. Однако другие утверждают, что текущие доказательства подтверждают другое.

В заключение хотелось бы сказать, что мы все знаем, как трудно может быть для студентов приспособиться к новым условиям, когда они решают учиться за границей. Несмотря на это я считаю, что обучение за границей расширяет наш взгляд на мир и оценку других культур.

1) Owning a car has certainly got its advantages. – Обладание автомобилем, конечно, имеет свои преимущества.
► You have more freedom as you do not depend on public transport and its timetable. – У вас больше свободы, так как вы не зависите от общественного транспорта и его расписания.
► Secondly, you can travel directly to your destination with ease. In addition, a car is very useful in case of an emergency. – Во-вторых, вы легко можете добраться до места назначения. Кроме того, машина очень полезна в случае чрезвычайной необходимости.

To sum up, I believe that although there are significant advantages to having computers in the classroom, teachers should always direct students’ learning. After all, as the Chairman of Microsoft, Bill Gates said, “Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important.”

В заключение хотелось бы сказать, что я считаю, хотя наличие в классе компьютеров имеет значительные преимущества, учителя должны управлять учебой учащихся. В конце концов, по словам председателя компании “Майкрософт” Билла Гейтса, “технология – это всего лишь средство. Но для того, чтобы побудить детей к сотрудничеству и мотивировать их, самым важным является учитель”.

In conclusion, I believe that the drawbacks of space exploration are not as many as compared to the advantages. What is more, since we do not know what the future brings, we must not close what might be a needed door in the future. In the words of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, “the Earth may be the cradle of humankind but one cannot live in the cradle forever.”

В заключение хотелось бы сказать, что недостатков в космических исследованиях не так много, по сравнению с преимуществами. Более того, так как мы не знаем, что принесет нам будущее, мы должны закрываться от того, что может оказаться дверью в будущее. По словам Константина Вернадского, “Земля – колыбель человечества, но никто не может находиться в колыбели вечно”.

In conclusion, although there are many points against owning a car, I believe that it has become a modern commodity, we cannot live without. After all, as the Canadian philosopher, Marshall McLuhan, once said, “The car has become an article of dress without which we feel uncertain, unclad and incomplete.”

В заключение хотелось бы сказать, что, несмотря на наличие многих аргументов против обладания автомобилем, я считаю, что он (автомобиль) стал современным удобством, без которого мы не можем жить.
